Thank You Hollywood Farmers Market Community!
The 2010 Hollywood Farmers Market season proved to be another great year. Gorgeous produce fresh from the farmers’ fields, artisan treats, pastured meats, pie contests, cooking demonstrations, live music – what more could one want?
Numbers, Numbers, Numbers
Over 2,000 hours of volunteer service from Board members and market day volunteers made the market the success that it was this year. Volunteer service is invaluable to the spirit of the market and worth over $40,000 using the 2009 value of volunteer hours from the Independent Sector, a nonpartisan coalition of organizations committed to advancing the common good.
Market customers spent $75,300 in debit token sales, up 15% from 2009, and $24,600 in EBT token sales, up 101% from last year. And in it’s first year, the Fresh Funds program matched $7,073 to EBT customers in our community. 40 organizations were represented at Community Booths and our crowd counts totaled 109,254 for the season.
Winter Planning
While the fields are resting over the winter, the HFM will be busy working on ideas and plans for the 2011 season. We have grand schemes for the future, if you are interested in finding out more and/or volunteering please get in touch!
We look forward to seeing you next year on Opening Day – May 7, 2011. Mark your calendars and rest well!
See you in May!
