Thank you, Farewell & Welcome Alicia | ||||
With the scent of daphne in the air and brightly colored crocuses dotting the landscape, spring’s approach feels relieving and invigorating. We are busily and excitedly preparing for the upcoming market season here in Hollywood and we hope you are too! With spring comes change and today I leave my post as Market Manager at Hollywood Farmers Market.
2011 marked the fifth season I spent with the Hollywood
Farmers Market. It has been an extraordinarily rewarding and educational experience. I’ve enjoyed working with all of the amazing people associated with the Hollywood Farmers Market from vendors & volunteers to community partners & customers. Thank you for welcoming me with patience, helping me learn about the issues and challenges facing farmers and small food producers, and for bringing joy to the work that I do. I will miss working with you at HFM very much!
I’m extremely pleased to introduce Alicia McAvay as HFM’s new Market Manager. Originally from Connecticut, Alicia brings a strong background in community building & food equality to the HFM community. She managed the Camas Farmers Market in Washington for the past two seasons and is excited to continue working with farms and small food producers a little closer to home – Hollywood has been her neighborhood market since she moved to Portland in early 2010. Please give her a warm welcome and stop by on Opening Day, May 5th, to say hello and help kick off a successful 2012 season. I feel lucky to bring my experience to Zenger Farm where I will manage the Lents International Farmers Market, coordinate on-farm workshops & classes, and help out with other responsibilities. If you find yourself nearby, please come and say hello! Zenger Farm is open for visits every Friday from 2-5pm, and the Lents International Farmers Market is open Sundays from 11am-4pm starting June 17th. It has been a pleasure! Warmest Regards, P.S. Don’t forget about the April markets on 4/7 & 4/21. We will be back on Hancock Street ready with everything you need for your Spring Brunches! |
