The Hollywood Farmers Market is looking for fellow market lovers to join its Board of Directors. We operate two year-round farmers markets in the Hollywood and Lloyd districts and we are looking for enthusiastic board members to help our markets thrive. The board is typically made up of customers, farmers and other vendors, health advocates, neighborhood leaders and community members who are looking for a way to get more involved.
While you can often find board members greeting customers and helping set up events on market day, the board’s chief responsibility is the governance of the markets. This includes routine jobs like setting policy, managing the budget, and staff oversight, but can also include mission-related tasks like developing health and nutrition standards for hot food vendors or organizing market-wide event days. Board members are expected to attend regular meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at the Rose City Park Presbyterian Church (NE 44th & Sandy Blvd) and typically serve on one or more additional committees. From time to time board members also join forces with staff and community members to work on specific issues and bring policy recommendations and requests to the full board. Board member terms are three years, with the option to be voted in for additional years.
Needed skills and expertise include leadership, legal, finance, marketing, food policy, nutrition, public health, diversity, human resources, marketing and graphic design, and small business or non-profit background.
More information about the market can be found at our website, www.hollywoodfarmersmarket.org. Applications are due by September 15 and can be downloaded from our website, here. Specific questions can be emailed to Gabbi Haber at recruitment@hollywoodfarmersmarket.org.
