One in five of your neighbors is facing food insecurity this holiday season. You can put fresh local produce on their dinner table by giving to Double Up Food Bucks at Hollywood Farmers Market.
Since the pandemic began, food insecurity is on the rise nationwide. At the Hollywood Farmers Market, SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) usage has increased by 40% this year! Your help is needed now more than ever. We have never seen this kind of need before.
For the past ten years Hollywood Farmers Market has distributed over $220,000 to thousands of SNAP recipients. This has been made possible by the generosity of many individual donors.
Today we are launching a fundraising campaign to continue the program next year. You can give to Double Up Food Bucks on our website here. Help us raise $3,000 by the end of the year!
If you prefer to make a contribution by cash or check, you can bring it to the farmers market information booth on December 5th or December 19th, and it’ll be added to our fundraising total. You can also mail a check to Hollywood Farmers Market, PO Box 13233, Portland, OR 97213. Checks should be made out to Farmers Market Fund, with “Hollywood Farmers Market” in the memo line.
Donations to this campaign are tax-deductible, thanks to our fiscal sponsor Farmers Market Fund. Farmers Market Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and contributions are tax deductible to the extent the law allows.
Every $10 you give means one more family can buy fresh, local fruits and vegetables. That means more food in the pantry. That means more sales for our family farmers. And it means a healthier community:
“This program is actually helping my kids grow! They have eaten more fruit this summer than ever before.”
“I feel much more connected to the community and to the food I eat when I buy fresh and local from the farmers market. Thank you!”
